Venus and Serena Williams are both one win away from another meeting in the Wimbledon final.
The seventh-seeded Venus and the sixth-seeded Serena both posted straight-set victories Tuesday in the quarterfinals of this year’s third major.
A four-time Wimbledon champion, Venus reached the semifinals here for the seventh time in the last nine years courtesy of a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand.
Nearly two hours later, Serena stayed on collision course with sister Venus by dismantling 14th-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska, 6-4, 6-0.
The defending champion of this grasscourt Grand Slam, Venus next will face fifth seed Elena Dementieva, who held on for a 6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3 victory Tuesday over No. 21 Nadia Petrova.
A two-time winner of this event, Serena will take on Chinese upstart Jie Zheng, who posted her latest upset at this tournament with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 ousting of No. 18 Nicole Vaidisova.
